Cows Creamery signature cheddar from Prince Edward Island, aged for eighteen months. Crumbly texture, complex savoury flavour, hint of sweetness and a slight tangy bite.
The recipe for COWS Creamery Cheddar comes from the Orkney Islands, north of mainland Scotland.
The milk of Holstein Cows from the small local farms in the rolling hills of Prince Edward Island is gently heated but not pasteurized to allow beneficial microbes to thrive and give depth of character and flavor. The salt air and iron-rich soil of Prince Edward Island combine to add flavor and quality to this cheddar.
Smooth and firm texture with long, complex, rich, and full bodied flavours and a tangy bite at the end.
Based on Prince Edward Island, Canada, COWS Creamery began making Cheddar Cheese in 2006. Our first Cheddar was Avonlea Clothbound Cheddar which is an English Style Clothbound Cheddar that is aged for 18 months in our aging cave.
COWS Creamery Extra Old Cheddar began shortly thereafter, and COWS Creamery Appletree Smoked Cheddar was added to the lineup in 2011.
In 2018, we expanded our COWS Creamery Cheddar line adding a 1 Year Old, 2 Year Old, and 3 Year Old Cheddars. Our cheddars have been awarded many awards over-the-years.
In 2014, our COWS Creamery Extra Old was named World’s Best Cheddar and our COWS Creamery Appletree Smoked was named World’s Best Smoked Cheddar at the World Championship Cheese Contest.
In 2015, our Avonlea Clothbound Cheddar was named World’s Best Vintage Cheddar at the World Cheese Awards.
We began making COWS Creamery Sea Salted Butter in 2010, Unsalted Butter in 2011, and added Cultured Butter in 2016.
Our COWS Creamery Butter has 84% butter fat (4% higher than regular butters) which gives it a richer, creamier taste.
We have loved your grocery service and will continue to use it as long as you are running it - the convenience, quality and price are second to none. Frankly, you make our life easier and we are so thankful for that.
Absolutely delightful grocery delivery. Have never had an issue, drivers are polite and helpful, arrive on time, and groceries are packed with care. The produce is fantastic and fresh, there are vegan/veggie/gluten free options which is always nice for people who need dietary accommodations, and there's plenty of common pantry and bakery staples to round things out.
I am not a technology person, and I cannot drive, have limited vision and lots of health issues. Your personal touches and contacts really mean a lot to me. I feel safe ordering goods from Chopped Leaf. Thank you for your kindness and caring. My family are so very grateful for your services that are meeting my needs. It takes a load of pressure off their shoulders. Thank you again for being there and meeting my grocery needs.
Who are we? We opened one of The Chopped Leaf's first locations in Ontario in 2016. We were dedicated to providing healthy fast food for the community. We employ 24 people in the region and love our staff!
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak business has diminished and effected our whole team and us as business owners. We are struggling to keep our heads above water as all small businesses are right now.
We developed a plan to provide amazing fresh produce to local residents at a fair price. We want to provide the region a safe way to stay healthy during this crisis. In turn this will help us stay in business and keep our doors open after life returns to normal.
